June 29 - Pebblewood
Tee times are 6:00 and 6:08 in the name of Moline. Coupons are in the Superbook.
I will not be able to make it as I have commitments in Boston, but John is planning to be there, provided the plant doesn't call him in.
Let John know if you are going to be there, so he can wait for you at the clubhouse.
John is on call, so he won't be carpooling so he doesn't have to abandon anybody if he gets paged.
June 22 - Blossom Trails
For those of you that missed last week at Michigan City, it was gorgeous. It went so well, we pushed through and played all 18. You should have been there.
Tonight, we don't need tee times, and should be able to get on the tee easily. The greens, that's another story!
John and I are leaving my house at about 4:45 if you want to coordinate rides.
For those of you that haven't been there, details and directions follow:

For those of you that missed last week at Brookwood in Buchanan, we had a beautiful evening. No rain, a little wind, cool and a nice sunset to boot. Looking forward to more of that this evening.
John and I are leaving my house at about 4:45 if you want to coordinate rides.
Greens fees are $15.00 ($9.00 for seniors!) for unlimited holes, and carts are $8.00 per person for 9, or $15.00 per person for 18. Your cost is $23 for nine or $30 for eighteen if you ride.

Call John or Brad if you want to carpool down.
June 8th - Brookwood Golf Course
Day Two of the Southwest Michigan Fraternal League of Ordinary Golfers weather hostage crisis.
Last week it was cold, wet, darn near sleet, and this week it is threatening thunderstorms.
Weatherman says 70%, but the radar looks as if it might blow over. God only knows.
One things for certain, the weather will either get better, get worse, or stay the same. Of that I am sure.
We have tee times at Brookwood under the name Moline for 5:36 and 5:44.
John and I are planning on being there. EIther we’ll get wet or we won’t. Bring an umbrella - the carts don’t have lids.

Opening Day Results

For those of you that bowed out gracefully (cowards!) you really missed it.
The weather, I mean. You really missed it. Or maybe you didn’t.
We stacked up at 5:30 at Berrrien Hills, with a total of five showing up. Bob decided to get there an hour early to make sure he didn’t miss the tee time, but the rest of us showed up with plenty of time to spare.
The ominous clouds to the south threatened to deliver the death blow to our round, but after checking out the bright red and yellow smile on the local radar, we figured, ‘how bad could it get?’

Rain finally let loose on number 11, and threatened to drive us off the fairway, but only for a minute. The carts had nice rain tops to keep the clubs dry, but us Floggers had to get in and out, so we got a little wet.
Within a few minutes, the front blew through and the temperature dropped a few degrees to somewhere in the vicinity of minus 215 degrees Fahrenheit.
Snug in our wind jackets, (I left mine in the Jeep) and our rain gloves, (I left mine at home), the temperature didn’t seem to bother us too much, though occasionally a bird would freeze solid in flight and drop to the ground, and every once in a while, your frozen Titleist would shatter into a cloud of icy golf ball core needles,
The weather spat and
fussed for about 5 holes, but by 16, it had blown by
and the sun came out, which made it easier to see our
balls splashing into the various creeks, ponds,
rivers, and lakes that they call hazards at Berrien
Hills.
Ha, I say, bring it on!

So it was a little wet,
and the greens were faster than we’d seen them in a
long time, especially in the wet, but in the end it
was all good fun and we had a great time looking for
lost balls and shaking our fists at the clouds, and
emptying the water out of our shoes.
What a game! Now I understand why dedicated Floggers
just keep coming back!
See you out there next week.
